Ms. Brooks
Hi! I would like to share a couple of things with you so that you can get to know me a little better.
I am currently employed at Endeavor Charter School. I am resource teacher for grades K-3. I also provide remediation services in reading and writing in these grades. I love working with exceptional students while providing additional resources to the teachers for struggling learners. At my school, we focus on collaboration. Since we follow mostly an inclusion model, I get to know all the teachers and students within the classroom setting. We work together to provide a positive and engaging education for all learners.
I enjoy running and traveling. I have been on several cruises and have taken trips to St. Thomas and St. John with family several times. St. John is one of my favorite islands. I have run in two half marathons and countless 5k's. I coach XC in the fall for middle school grades 6-8. I have a co-ed team that averages anywhere from 30 to 40 students total.
One of my passions is reading. I am always immersed in books of various genres. My favorite author is Charles Dickens. A Tale of Two Cities is one of the few books I have read over and over again. I like to read biographies/autobiographies of people that I find inspiring or interesting. It provides with me with an understanding of how they became the person they are currently.
I am currently enrolled in a Master's Program at East Carolina University. I am pursuing a MAEd-READ (reading) due to my passion for literacy in the education setting. My goal is to increase my knowledge in the area of literacy development so that I can broaden my tool box of resources when providing services or instruction to my students. I love watching children develop a positive relationship with reading and any additional resources that I can have to spark this connection will enable me to better meet the needs of my students.
